COVID-19 Resources: The CARES Act
Confused by all the talk about government relief for those whose work or business has been affected by COVID-19? We’ve created a few simple resources to help navigate what’s available.
The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (“CARES Act” or “Act”) is a $2.2 trillion act passed by Congress and signed into law by President Trump on Friday, March 27th. The Act expanded unemployment insurance (UI) benefits in a number of ways including Pandemic Unemployment Compensation (PUC), Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC) and the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) programs. There are a number of other key pieces in the legislation for small businesses, but one of the biggest is the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), which provides partially forgivable loans.
