Client Spotlight: Radious

Breakaway advisors are so much more than number crunchers. After all, there are plenty of people (and softwares) out there that can input some data and reconcile a few accounts for you. What sets Breakaway apart is the personal guidance advisors provide to every client. We come alongside our clients by really listening to their vision and goals for their business, and work together to find the financial path towards achieving those goals.

That’s why we love to shine a spotlight on our clients–both because we love championing the inspiring work they are doing, and to showcase the transformation they have achieved by working with a Breakaway advisor.

This month’s client spotlight is Radious, an innovative leader providing private workspaces on demand, allowing companies to ditch the concept of conventional office space.

We recently spoke with Radious CEO Amina Moreau about her company, her experience with Breakaway, and her advisor Faith Bygd.

How do you explain to people what Radious does?

The nature of work has dramatically changed over the last three years. Smart companies aren’t looking back. They’re looking forward to new and unique solutions that will give them a competitive edge, reduce their costs, and keep their talent happy. We provide unique workspace rentals that allow companies to gather people together on a flexible basis, while only paying for the days they use.

What is your biggest challenge as a business owner?
One of my biggest challenges is the ability to get out of my own way. As a recovering perfectionist, it isn't my nature to leave something to someone else, especially when I also take pride in having a strong work ethic. It feels awkward to let someone else do something I could do myself. But over the years, in building an exceptional team of driven and committed people, I have come to a place where I can let go a lot more. When you're surrounded by extraordinary people who share deeply in the mission, you begin to trust big and small tasks to your teammates — especially as you check your ego and realize a lot of them are better than you at more things than you thought. That's great teamwork, right there.

What brings you the most joy as a business owner?

I love the freedom that entrepreneurship brings. If I'm honest about it though, it's a double edged sword. On one hand, you can choose your own hours and have the agency to build whatever business your heart desires. On the other hand, entrepreneurship often requires long hours, especially toward the beginning. In those times, you may question whether the freedom you sought by starting your own business was just an illusion. It's not. Because at the end of the day, you are building an entirely new company from scratch, with the autonomy to use whatever building blocks you feel are most relevant for the business. You are assembling your own future, in your own way.

What is one problem your Breakaway advisor helped you solve?

Our Breakaway Advisor, Faith, has helped us identify new opportunities for the business. Since she joined when we were still in our infancy, there were many processes to be defined, and avenues designed. She offered strategic insights that we likely would never have considered otherwise, which led to opportunities for us to see innovative pathways forward.
